Football - Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani has been called up to the France World Cup squad in place of the injured Christopher Nkunku. The RB Leipzig striker suffered a leg injury in training   and was ruled out for the whole tournament. 

 

Former Aston Villa striker John Carew has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of tax evasion in his native Norway.The 43-year-old admitted failing to report taxable income and assets of around £26.7m between 2014 and 2019. Carew said he thought he did not need to pay tax there as he lived abroad . Some International friendlies were played last night and Argentina warmed up for the World Cup with a 5-0 thrashing of UAE, Germany won 1-0 in Oman, Turkey beat Scotland 3-1 and the Czech Republic hammered the Faroe Islands 5-0.

 

Tennis - The path has been cleared for Novak Djokovic to play in the Australian Open, after the Australian government overturned a visa ban. The Serbian tennis star was detained in January over his refusal to be vaccinated against Covid. He was deported from the country 10 days later, despite mounting a successful legal challenge.

 

Basketball - Australian Isaac Humphries has become the first active male basketball player currently playing in a top-tier league to come out as gay. The 24-year-old addressed his Melbourne United team-mates in the locker room in a video posted on social media. Humphries is the first Australian male basketball player and first in the National Basketball League (NBL) to be openly gay.
