Listen to the news:

Football - Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United with immediate effect. The decision follows a controversial interview in which the 37-year-old criticised the club and said he had "no respect" for manager Erik ten Hag. Both parties stated that Ronaldo's exit was "mutually agreed".

The shock of the tournament so far in the Qatar World Cup 2022 saw well fancied Argentina beaten by Saudi Arabia 2-1 in Group C. Also in the same group Mexico and Poland drew 0-0. In Group D defending champions France cruised past Australia 4-1 and  Denmark and Tunisia played out a 0-0 draw.

Cricket - Travis Head and David Warner both hit centuries as Australia consigned England to their heaviest one-day international defeat in terms of runs in Melbourne. England were all out for 142 as the hosts had earlier scored 355-5 off 48 overs securing a 3-0 series sweep for the home nation.

F1 - China's return to the Formula 1 schedule will be cancelled next year as a result of the country's Covid policies. Formula 1 has not visited China since 2019, but was due to return for the fourth race in 2023 on the 16 April. China's zero-Covid policy has led F1 to conclude the race cannot go ahead.
