Pundits were saying "dismiss the chance of the Germans winning at your peril" as Hansi Flick's side rescued a point in the late match against Spain last night.

Spain took the lead though Alvaro Morata's brilliant flicked finish but Niclas Fullkrug from Werder Bremen equalized with 7 minutes of regulation time to go with a powerful finish.

At 29 he became the oldest debutant for the German national team in 20 years in a pre-World Cup match.

Earlier the Germans had enjoyed a psychological boost after Costa Rica broke Japanese hearts with a 1-0 win; this was very deflating after the Japanese had stunned the Germans 2-1 in the first game.

The Germans' last game is against Costa Rica.

They will likely still be eliminated if Japan beat Spain, a big ask.

In other action yesterday Canada bowed out of the tournament following a 4-1 loss to Croatia while Morocco stunned the aging stars of Belgium to leave Group F in the balance.

Today features the last of the second round of group games, the final time games will be played in Thailand according to the 5pm-8pm-11pm-2am schedule:

Group G:

Cameroon vs Serbia 5pm

Group H:

South Korea vs Ghana 8pm

Group G:

Brazil vs Switzerland 11pm

Group H:

Portugal vs Uruguay 2am

Highlight of tonight's games for neutrals is undoubtedly the second game for Brazil following their win versus Serbia.

They will be without Neymar who is injured, however. Brazil head coach Tite said the wanton fouling of Neymar has to stop.

Since his first World Cup in 2014 the PSG star has been fouled 53 times - 11 more than any other player. He was fouled nine times against Serbia.

From tomorrow the schedule for the last group games will mean kick-offs of two matches at 10 pm and two games at 2 am Thai times.
