AIS’ subsidiary seeks court’s injunction to be able to broadcast FIFA World Cup on AIS Playbox

Super Broadband Network (SBN), a unit of Advanced Infor Services Plc (ADVANC), Thailand’s leading provider of mobile telephone, has come out to say that it has filed a petition with the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, to seek injunction that forbids it from broadcasting the ongoing World Cup on its platform.

 

SBN has asked the court to cancel the order that prohibits it from broadcasting the World Cup (FIFA World Cup Final 2022) that is being held in Qatar on IPTV system (IPTV Transmission) by confirming that everything has been done under the law in all respects.

Why not just pay True for it? I see TrueVisions even displays phone number to call if you want to publicly share the stream...

AIS chose to lose the Formula 1 by not buying the rights and now they have chosen not to buy the rights for the World Cup 2022. A distinct pattern.

Then government should not be begging companies like True to pay 100s of millions of baht for the rights to broadcast and just not broadcast it in Thailand at all.

Viewing rights were sorted out months ago.. just not in Thailand.
