Daily News Thai Caption: Religious studies

A school director in Ubon Ratchathani in the north east of Thailand came under criticism from parents after it was claimed that he forced children to practice ways from a Chinese cult.

It was felt that this was divergent from Buddhist teachings.

It came to light on Twitter and concerned a project to teach 18 students in M5, the second to last year of secondary education.

#bmfact was trending at number one on Twitter in Thailand as Thai netizens commented in large numbers.

The school director has said that it is just religious studies.

But it has been suggested the students' grade average would suffer if they didn't follow the course.

Meetings are being planned for next Tuesday when school reconvenes after the Father's Day holiday.

Daily News did not name the school or the director just sticking with standard non-defamatory banality that it was "well known".

Thailand has strict laws related to organisations protecting them from losing face no matter what, notes ASEAN NOW.

All and every type of religion, including Buddhist beliefs, are nothing more than cults.

yeah I am with you on this . The world would be a much safer and saner place without religion .
