Thai Rath reported on comments by the deputy governor of Bangkok regarding Covid as the Thai capital geared up for New Year celebrations.

Dr Thawida Kamonwech noted that Covid hospital admission cases had risen in Bangkok though deaths were stable.

Most fatalities were the elderly or those with underlying health complaints.

Problems were still being caused by people not being fully vaccinated.

She urged people to make sure they have had four jabs and if it has been four months since the last one to get a booster.

Regarding New Year she noted there were many events including the Red Cross fair, the countdown itself and next January's Childrens' Day events.

She called on organizers and paticipants to follow protocols named as Covid Free Environment, Covid Free Personnel and Covid Free Customer Protection.

People were urged to follow Universal Protection (UP) measures.

Venues were urged to scale down their activities slightly to help cope with possible emergencies.

The Thai Rath story did not mention mask wearing specifically though many of the capital's residents are still wearing masks in public and New Year is expected to see a continuation of that, notes ASEAN NOW. This despite changes to mask wearing mandates.

Yes, 5th shot (3rd booster) is recommended - well, here in Cambodia! I have had mine, Pfizer, for free, with no adverse reactions.
