Hard to argue with the amount of food that is wasted and mismanaged, while other areas in the world simply don't have enough.

There is one argument: In order for us to have enough food to eat, we have to produce it in a way that means a lot of it is wasted. ????‍♂️

Food production worldwide is at an all time high.

And a warmer climate with raised levels of CO2 will allow even more to be produced.

There is no food shortage, but of course farmers don't grow food free of charge.

Like always, if you have the money to pay for it, you can buy as much food as you want.

To eat or to waste!

As I said in my previous post, there is no world shortage of food.

But food isn't grown free, you need to earn the money to pay the farmers who grow it.

Yes, I agree, some people in the world are incapable of earning the money to buy their food. Producing more food or wasting less food won't enable them to buy enough.

Always take a doggie bag to restaurants.

The public shame stops once you are out the door.????????

Have never taken to that concept.... as you say it looks rather pathetic, and old leftovers are hardly appetizing.. even the cat doesn't want them. Got into the habit of not ordering as many dishes as I used to!

Jacko.

This is why they called doggie bags.

Feed the pets. If they are hungry (like most animals always are when there is a different offering) they will eat.

Pussie bags or birdie bags sounds a bit tame.????????

Well I would not have a dog where I currently live.. and cats can be pretty finnicky.....I could understand taking the treat of some spare rib-bones home, or steak trimmings for a dog though.

Perhaps for the USA guys who need to eat every few hours, the thought of left over pizza congealing in the fridge stops them sleeping!

The dog from #4 house in my soi comes and nudges my gate open if unlocked.

That tells me it is just on 05:00.

He will sniff and push around any food I give him.

Then it is gone in a flash.

Yes, the soi cat is finnicky.????????

Countries like Japan that have strict regulations on the size/shape/weight of most foods to be sold in shops.. their wastage even before it gets to the consumer is huge.

Have you ever eaten at a hotels buffet ?  I have seen both Indian and Chinese load their plates to overflowing , especially the meat or prawns , then eat only half .

I attend a casino where there is a complimentary buffet . On the wall is a notice that says " do not take more than you can eat as you will be charged at 200 baht for uneaten food " . That stops overloading plates .
