Why there are only few gay saunas in this gay-friendly Bangkok city?

Is it not that profitable?

That word "troll" is used very loosely on these forums to censor information. While I have no interest in the subject manner of gay-friendly Bangkok, I would think the author should have the right to ask the question as well as someone expressing their opinion on the matter.

Its a global trend for gay bars and saunas to close down mainly because of hookup apps but the Covid years  ended some iconic ones.

Maybe because we hear much about gay people, but in reality they are very few. So, nor you count the total amount of saunas in Bangkok. Se how many it is for the stright population. After that take the few saunas for the gay population. As a finish you will make a percentage calculation that will show you the is seen in percentage more saunas that cater for the gay population than for the straight pop.

If you're just talking about spas not hookup palaces they are everywhere and gay men could go there as well for the steam, etc.

 

Gay sauna means sex. Period.

I would assume most are closed but not sure if all are.

Americans usually say gay baths or bathhouses but saying gay saunas is more International.

How did they make it through Covid?

On the other hand it kind of makes sense.

They are mostly for Thais and so many Thais live in family group situations.

Gay saunas can act as a cheap hotel as well.

8th and Howard was like Ground Zero for HIV and was closed with good reason by health authorities. 

 

I remember being there before the disease emerged thinking something  like that was going to develop as the debauchery there was at historically extreme levels. It had kind of a "not since ancient Rome" kind of vibe.

 

Yeah there was that one coed place also.south of Market. I never went but it had a reputation as a place straight people went to watch gay people have butt sex.

I only went there a few times, can't say I saw that but trans guys would get rooms and the otherwise straight guys would wait on line outside the door for their turn.

Most gay saunas close at around 11 pm except on weekends.

Can you sleep well while listening to  moaning sound next door?
