Thai Tourist Police assist after the death of a German passenger on cruise ship in Gulf

INN reported that the Royal Thai Police's Tourist Police were instrumental in assisting after a German tourist on a cruise liner in the Gulf developed pneumonia.

 

The man - 73 year old Bernd Joachim Max - was transferred from the Mein Schiff that was 69 nautical miles off Koh Kood in Trat, eastern Thailand.

 

He was in a grave condition. He later died in Trat Hospital with medical staff saying he had had a heart attack.

The Tourist Police assisted his spouse in making arrangements in conjunction with the German Embassy to repatriate the body to Germany.

 

The liner had started its journey in Germany and after stops in Turkey, the middle east and Vietnam was on its way to Singapore when captain Adam Swietlik contacted the Thai authorities for help.

What is the main purpose of Tourists police if not assisting tourists in difficulties? Where are the heroes???

Ok, in every other country, they report on what the police have done. But because this is Thailand, and you are a bunch of sour jaded, lifeless sexpats, you have to berate everything that is reported that the cops do ...Sad bunch of keyboard <deleted> warriors

It happens in every thread about Thailand. There is a contingent that has to gratuitously bash Thailand.  I wonder what happened in their miserable lives to turn them into such bitter and twisted relics of humanity.

Wonderful that Thailand helped, the traveler had to have had pneumonia while in port in Vietnam. Sad, a cruise around the world, to have ended so suddenly. RIP

Not the Christmas holiday they had planned on.. sorry for her loss at this time of year..

but at least she has the memory of him going out while doing what they liked best.

My ole man popped his clogs on Boxing day.. at least he had his last turkey and Xmas pud before he went.. albeit in hospital.

I'll toast his memory again this year... 16 years passed.
