A group of protesters began a demonstration to support calls for the release of 21 political detainees, including a few arrested on lese majeste charges, two on hunger strike.


The group stood outside the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre for 12 hours yesterday and plan to continue for 112 hours in the coming days.

 

Gunfire broke out between poachers and forest rangers in Sri Racha, near Pattaya late last week.


One of the rangers was shot in the head and died as the rangers attempted to arrest the group, 
rangers did manage to arrest two men with rifles, knives, and several bullets, they were charged with murder and illegal hunting.


The deadline for migrant workers from Myanmar to be able to extend their work permit is likely to be extended from 13th February to May. 


The department of employment says many workers are still waiting for their passports to be issued by their embassy making them unlikely to be able to update their paperwork by the February deadline.

 

More than 70 computers were seized by police during raids on two shop-houses in Lat Phrao Bangkok. It is thought the equipment was being used to mine cryptocurrency coins. The raids came after the electricity authority registered excessive consumption, both properties had bypassed electricity meters. 


3 Police officers have been transferred after providing a police escort for a tourist from Hong Kong in exchange for money,  this allegedly included a fast track through immigration, a ride in a police car with motorcycle escort to a hotel in Pattaya,  and sounding the siren for an additional fee,  Police have set up a committee to look into the incident.
