Thai and Chinese Private Sectors Collaborating To Attract Chinese Travelers To Holiday in Thailand

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thai and Chinese tourism firms are now collaborating to issue tourism promotion campaigns to attract Chinese travelers to Thailand. This comes after China approved tour agencies’ operation of group tours in 20 nations from February 6 onward. Meanwhile, The Thai Chamber of Commerce in China indicates that the number of Chinese travelers arriving in Thailand could potentially reach 10 million this year.

Tech Crime Division to Achieve Bureau Status

BANGKOK (NNT) - In an effort to combat rising cybercrime cases, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) plans to upgrade the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) into a bureau and increase its manpower by 2,000 over the next two years.

Another day, another Phuket cabbie doing his bit to further damage the reputation of the island’s taxi drivers. Police in Patong have charged a taxi driver after a video of him kicking over a parked motorbike went viral on social media.

Cabinet drafts decree to deal with fraudulent online money transfers

The Thai cabinet endorsed a draft executive decree on Tuesday to cope with rising online fraud, targeting individuals who knowingly open a bank account or an e-wallet for use by other people or lend their mobile phone SIM cards to the other people when they know or “should” know that they will be used for illegal activities.

“No new visas for Chinese citizens applying in Phuket” – visa agent

Two visa agents have contacted Phuket GO today with information that Phuket Immigration are refusing to process any new visa applications for Chinese citizens. They also confirmed that people applying for new Retirement visas must now go to to Pattaya Immigration for photograph and proof of funds – they can’t currently be processed in Phuket. In both cases, for Chinese citizens or people on current retirement (O or OA) visas, renewals are being processed locally. It only applies to NEW applications.
