The secretary of Thailand's Anti-Corruption Organization went on Facebook to outline the bigger issues in the case of "VVIP" foreign tourists getting special treatment and privileges from Thai tourist police.

Dr Mana Nimitmongkol said that:

1. Airport security was compromised

2. Illegal imports were made that were untaxed

3. The corruption began as soon as the plane door opened and continued as protocols were bypassed and other road users' rights were infringed by the use of sirens on vehicles.

4. Money was paid under the table in bribes at airports.

Siam Rath said these issues were at the core of the scandal.

He must have the most frustrating job there is! An anti-corruption activist in a country where most politicians, police etc are corrupt and very rarely is anything meaningful done about it, even when they are caught red-handed.
