Please help me!!! :o

I have just realised my Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Type O visa expires on July 1st (today). Stupidly I had it in my head that it expired on the 3rd.

I am returning to UK on august the 5th so I need about 5 weeks more.

Is it possible to extend this type of visa without leaving thailand? And if so how long can I get? Also what are the costs?

If not I guess I will have to do another visa run to Burma or Malaysia (I stay in samui) this isnt a problem but I will be about 3 days over by that point. What are the penalties please? And will it go against me if I try to get another Visa in the future?

Any help greatly appreciated..

Thanks

There are two dates you need to provide. One is the date on the visa itself "valid until" and the other is the date of your immigration stamp "admitted until". They are not normally the same date - but if they are and it is July 1 your visa is no longer valid and you will be on overstay at 500 baht charge per day and subject to arrest until you visit Immigration tomorrow and extend your stay (seven days is the max and you may need a valid air ticket to obtain). The cost will be 1,900 baht. As it is a weekend do not believe you will have a problem doing first workday but if you wait until later do not believe an extension can be issued.

If you wait 3 days you will be on overstay and have to pay fine and receive a note of overstay in your passport (hopefully you will not meet law officials prior to immigration). The stamp has not been a problem for visas in the past and on short overstay do not believe it will be a concern. But you do risk a problem if police check you prior to getting to border/immigration and should depart from airport for your own safety.

With luck you have just checked the visa and in fact your admitted until date is in the future and you can leave normally and obtain a tourist visa for 60 days from Vientiane, Savannakhet or Malaysia. A 30 day entry is not going to cover five weeks so would be best to obtain tourist visa and be done with the worry/travel.
