A 29 year old man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison by a court in chiang mai on 3 charges of  insulting the  monarchy in a series of online posts.


The sentence of 42 years was reduced to 28  years due to his testimony.


A researcher with Human Rights Watch, said the sentence was the second-highest prison term handed down for a royal defamation case. 

 

Two rescue workers were arrested yesterday for stealing 27 defibrillators at different locations around the capital, the devices were then offered for sale to other rescue workers for around 15,000 baht, police managed to retrieve 5 defibrillators.  

 

A well known TV host has filed a complaint with Cyber Crime authorities after his photo was used in a video to attract investors to a fraudulent company.


The host claims the company's online loan scheme affected hundreds of victims and damaged his career and reputation. . Each victim is said to have lost between 1,000 and 1 million baht.

 

A Taiwanese actress who claims she had to pay thai police 27 thousand baht to be released from custody during the festive season has been contacted by police. Senior thai police are investigating possible extortion and an unlawful charge of visa irregularities. 
They promised any police officer involved would be prosecuted.
