Thai Rath reported that a 21 year old construction worker was hit and killed by lightning on the 21st floor of a building being built in the Chom Phon area of Chatuchak in northern Bangkok.

Despite colleagues' frantic efforts to revive Ong Tu Soo using CPR he died at the scene.

Bang Sue police and Ruam Katanyu rescue services had responded to a call from the site on Pahonyothin Road at 3.50 pm yesterday.

It happened during cement pouring on the top floor.

The victim's elder sister - Nianji, 37, also a worker at the site - said she accepted that it had been an accident. Heavy rain had been accompanied by lightning.

It happened in full view of her brother's friends and colleagues, she said.

She requested that her brother's body be released for religious ceremonies.

The body was taken to the Police Hospital for autopsy, standard practice in such circumstances said Pol Lt Col Amnat Nakwijit at the scene.
