Members of a community enterprise group called Node-Na-Le in Tha Hin sub-district of Songkhla in southern Thailand were furious after it appeared that contestants from the Miss Grand Songkhla beauty pageant would not be coming as planned.

Everything had been arranged for the beauties' visit as part of the pageant that was due to take place today.

Organizer Janphen Prisutthonamjanda said it was all a misunderstanding.

She said that many of the contestants had fallen sick and it looked as though they might have to cancel the event.

But that was never the case. After consultations with the "phu yai" and accepting that all the organisation was in place they decided to go ahead with the activities.

Thai Rath had several pictures of the contestants - they looked in fine fettle, suggests ASEAN NOW!
