Tailors for Shirts in Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced tailor in Bangkok who could make me a couple of dress shirts for work?

I'm around a 3XL-4XL- Euro size.

I've never had shirts made before, so I have no idea about prices.

Any suggestions (Apart from "Lose some weight you fat b@$%&d") would be most welcome.

Any of them, its the same Thai sweatshop that makes them all for the "tailor" fronts anyway.

I have used many, all the same, delivered in bundles tied in plastic twine. I am not whinging about the quality, I think its good but the fronts themselves are just bull.

I would look for someone who specialises in making shirts!

I have a very good tailor who made several suits and trousers for me; top quality in terms of fabric, style and finishing.  However they also offered shirt making, which I tried once. It was rather disappointing... The collar was way too stiff and the quality of the (cotton) cloth was mediocre.

I found the selection of suitable cloth (with the right weave and style) for dress shirts seems very limited and a bit old fashioned.

As said, unlike the high-end woolen (cashmere-like) cloth woven in Italy that I have been offered for my suits here, all the cotton cloth for shirts I have seen in Bangkok (Sukumvit) was rather unsatisfactory.

Not true, but certainly true for almost all of them.

My one, who is a closely guarded secret, can be seen stitching the suits and shirts together when he has no customers.

He is, of course, nowhere near Sukhumvit Road. And I don't want his prices to triple when some out-of-towners from Thaivisa turn up.

I know someone better than that... but he's my guy, my secret, so I don't want to tell anyone who he is, but I want to tell you all I know better than you all and have found someone better than you all....   :clap2::neus::passifier::ph34r:

I never bother with Tailored suits... I've tried a couple of different guys and always found high-end off the rack (hugo-boss, Paul Smith, Givenchy etc) better if you're a 'conventionally sized guy.

BUT... Shirts are different and I have found that Raja Tailors (corner of Nana) makes very decent shirts...  I can't recall the price though.
