Chuan blasts party-hopping politicians

Former leader of the Democrat Party, Chuan Leekpai, has blasted party-hopping politicians for only pursuing self-interest and claimed that some MPs in Thailand’s oldest political party have been offered huge sums of money to switch parties.

Chuan, who currently serves as House Speaker, also admitted that he is concerned about a decline in the Democrat Party’s popularity in its traditional stronghold in the south.

Speaking to Thai PBS in a recent interview, Chuan expressed confidence, however, that voters still trust the party, despite a series of defections by some of its prominent members.

Well sure.

Isn't that what it's all about? [everywhere]

Has little or nothing about representing the people.

Is he saying that politicians are not motivated foremost by Thailand's interests?

Well, I'll be... who would've thunk... no, not that, surely... there must be some other explanation!

IF parties had a clear set of policies that the electorate could vote for or against, that should determine what parties win or lose.  As it is now, seemingly all Thai politicians are following the money which sets a bad example to the voters.

I mean you can't blame them for switching. Who wants to be the last dinosaur?

The Dem party will lucky to get 30 seats.

Thai politicians only doing it for the bung. Surely a misunderstanding.

Remember these hard working servants of the public can't even turn up to form a quorum in their place of taxpayers funded employment so jumping ship to further increase their bank balances is a given.
