Internet Connection Sharing

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience connecting 2 (or more) computers to the internet using one IP address? I have a TOT IPStar satellite connection. I believe I have to use a router but would like to know if someone has done this before with IPstar? I don't want to slow my connection down even more.

How do those with several computers (internet shops), small business, etc connect without paying ridiculously high connection fees?

Thanks heaps :o

I stuck a Router straight onto the modem, just a cheap Linksys. No userid and no password. I just added a wireless WPA key and its all happy.

Thanks for your reply. Are you using Ipstar? Does it slow both computers down at all?

I have an ipStar satellite connection and i join 2 laptops via a DLink hub with no problems. Of course it will slow things down as you are still getting the same bandwidth but now 2 people are surfing.

Try saving money in 2 bank accounts instead of one, would you expect the money to grow in each as fast as if you only had one account? Same same!

yes it works no problem i use a 300bath switch 6 port with ipstar loxinfo 256/128

little question can you tell my about your ipstar tot what connection you have how it's working and how much you pay?

i use 256/128 ipstar loxinfo for 1'800bath a month, my connexion work well usualy. from 6h30pm to 6h30am full bandwitch, but during the day a get only half bandwitch.

i maybie want change for the tot operator what do you think? good idea?

thank's

I use TOT 256/128 Ipstar. Fine before 8am then slows down to a crawl. Used to be fine for months and month more than a couple of weeks ago. A guy in Chonburi got TOT to change his ISP which worked fine for him and got him back up to speed daytime.

Not been able to persuade them yet.

I use TOT 256/128 TOT Ipstar. Mine is ok most of the time but goes out for maybe 10 minutes in the middle of the day. Not super fast but dramatically faster than dial up. I pay 1600 bt per month..had it 3 months and no bill yet though! I was under the impression that if you used hubs/switches to share your internet connection you would have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to have the 2 IP addresses, but if you had a router, this isn't the case? They only stock ADSL routers around here anyway!!

hello, thank's to reply

look's like a bit the same betwin loxinfo and tot for the bandwitch up and down depend's your luck, but tot is much cheaper, i pay 1'800bath a month and this price was a promotion in mars last year the normal rate is 2'500 bath

what about 512/256 tot price, bandwitch etc?...

because if it's a resonable price whay not get 512/256, can be much better during the day for voip telephone, internet radio and that kind of stuff.

thank's

I just downgraded from TOT Ipstar 1024/512 to 256/128. Did it make a difference? Yes, I save over a thousand baht per month. I can't tell ANY difference surfing but the downloads are slower.

Our neighbour has 512/256 connection and says it's complete crap. She's now sorry she upgraded because now she pays twice as much for the same service that drops out all the time and is in a contract for a year. On that advice, I'm not going to bother "upgrading" for over 2500 baht per month.

I upgraded from 512/256 to 1024/512. I had it for about two months and since I couldn't tell any difference surfing, I went back to the TOT office and told them that if I was going to have slow service, I'd pay a cheaper price. I think the one year is for the basic service and what speed you have doesn't make any difference.

ok thank's for your reply guys,

i think i continue with my systeme now and keep one eyes if maybie tot do a special promotion in the futur :o

thank's bye

yes - i did the same thing too for my girlfriends ipstar satellite connection and the speed from 512 to 1mb is about the same, it might be 10% faster but it certainly isnt twice as fast! i was wandering could it be that the lnb on the satellite is pointing a few degrees out? has anyone called their engineer out to check the positioning settings? i had 2mb connection before (not in thailand) and that was as fast as anything, can download match of the day in an hour......at my current ipstar rate it will take me 6 days to download motd! can anyone offer any advice? other than going back to a cheaper plan for the same speed! thanks.
