snoop1130
BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has released a new guidebook to promote gastronomy tourism for Muslim and other foreign tourists. The e-book, titled "Muslim Friendly & Gastronomy Tourism Routes," is free to download in Thai and English. According to Deputy Government Spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek, the guidebook aims to support self-drive tourism connecting 14 southern provinces of Thailand, as well as Malaysia, Singapore, and Batam Island in Indonesia. The 154-page guidebook offers two routes for tourists: the Muslim Friendly Tourism Route, which will guide tourists to visit places of interest to Muslim tourists, and the Gastronomy Route, which provides information on general tourist attractions and famous local restaurants in each location. The guidebook also provides a sample of each route, both undertaken in 20 days and starting in Chumphon province. In addition to the two routes, the guidebook has separate sections on the 14 southern provinces and provides information on how to apply for a tourist visa to enter Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia by crossing the borders. The guidebook also includes brief information on tourist destinations, recommended restaurants, and local goods in each province. The information in the guidebook is based on data as of August 9, 2022, and it provides links to websites or other sources for more updated information. With this new guidebook, the Thai government hopes to attract more tourists, especially Muslim tourists, to explore the gourmet specialties of Thailand’s southern region and neighboring countries.
