Local authority in Chaing Mai will hand out facemasks to resident currently swamped by air pollution from burning fires.


The fires and pollution prompted the government to close several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in north and west.

 

The public in bangkok could soon see new electric buses on the streets, with the introduction of the ‘Bangkok E Bus programme’


The idea is for private bus operators to be able to replace their old diesel buses with EV's with support from the klik foundation in Switzerland. The programme will see a charging infrastructure Installed across the capital. It’s hoped the initiative will help improve the air quality in the capital.

 

The president of a flying Club in Samut Sakhon was killed and his female companion suffered serious injuries when their two-seater plane crashed into a tree then plunged into a shrimp farm. 


Thailand's expressway authority says:  The new 8 lane bridge currently under construction next to the rama nine bridge is due to be completed in the next month or so and will open next year. 


The bridge crosses the chao phraya river between Dao Kanong and Rama 3 road and is supported by a series of 2 kilometer long cables, the structure is designed to withstand wind gusts up to 270 kilometers an hour, and costs 6 point 6 billion baht.

 

And a feasibility study has been completed which will see the construction of a new railway line between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the line is a joint project between Thailand and Japan. The high speed service will run 688 kilometers and include 12 stations. 


Thailand is now the second largest producer of bio plastics, according to the Thai Bioplastics Industry Association.


The biodegradable products are made from  crops such as sugarcane and cassava, production is expected to increase to 170 thousand tonnes a year most of which will be exported.

Former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin was summoned to appear at the country's anti-graft agency yesterday


His appearance follows the current prime minister Ibrahim’s  review of government projects worth billions of dollars approved by Mr Muhyiddin, including COVID-19 relief programmes, alleging they did not follow proper procedures.
