Search for missing Caesium-137 intensifies, public health officials on standby

 

Local officials and those from Thailand’s Office of Atoms for Peace have launched searches for a canister of radioactive Caesium-137, which has gone missing from a steam power plant in Si Maha Phot district of Prachin Buri.

Officials in Phuket Town give Songkran water fights the go-ahead

Break out your super soakers, Songkran water play has been given the green light by Phuket Town officials. The Phuket News reports that the President of Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation says water fights can go ahead on the streets of the Old Town on April 14.

Tighter measures to curb dangerous PM2.5 levels in northern provinces

Thailand’s National Environment Board (NEB) has decided to tighten up measures to curb the worsening PM2.5 problem in 17 northern provinces, which is threatening public health and is being blamed on forest fires and the burning of farm waste.

Northern Provinces Ordered to Halt Burning Activities to Combat PM2.5 Pollution
