Oil company Chevron says One crew member was killed after a faulty seal let  seawater enter the hull of an oil tanker off the coast of Sattahip,  the navy was assisting with recovery of the man's body and non essential crew were being taken off the vessel which had lost power.  The vessel was carrying 400 thousand barrels of crude oil. Efforts were being made to prevent an oil spill.

 

The cabinet has approved an amnesty for gun owners who failed to register their firearms. A mass shooting that left 36 people dead at a shopping center last year prompted the government to legislate that all private handguns must be registered.


The new law and amnesty will give Gun owners 180 days to register their weapons.

 

A Former TOT president has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay one billion baht to the state agency for an unauthorized deal with it’s subsidiary Samart I-Mobile in 2008. Mr Varut was accused of exceeding his authority by approving a compensation payment of 1.48 billion baht to Samart in order to settle a dispute over expenses.


Police in Chiang Mai have arrested a former model suspected of running an investment scam online which caused victims to lose some 100 million baht. 


The 30 year old female was charged with obtaining loans to defraud the public and entering false data into a computer system.


Each victim Was “guaranteed” a 100% return on their investment. However she then stopped paying their returns and took down her social media sites.


The woman denied all the charges,  however  police found  she  was named in  11 other arrest warrants. 

Thailand's  police inspector-general has directed all provincial police stations to perform random checks on the physical and mental well-being of male officers.. 


The decision comes after  the recent armed standoff with police, by a former police officer.

And a survey on the attitude of voters was revealed yesterday,
The survey also found that people have become less satisfied with democracy, though they still favour democracy over other forms of government,

An Indonesian court acquitted two senior police officers charged with negligence after 135 people were crushed to death at a football stadium last October. Another officer was jailed for 18 months but families of the victims said he had been treated too leniently.      Police had been blamed for triggering the deadly stampede by firing tear gas after supporters invaded the pitch
