snoop1130
Retiring in Phuket Phuket is a beautiful island in the Andaman Sea, unlike Samui, Koh Chang, Koh Pha Nga, Koh Tao or Koh Same… all located in the Gulf of Thailand. There are several quite distinct locations around the island that can be great places to retire. We leave out some of the more obvious selections, like Patong, which is clearly pitched, and priced, for tourists, and not a place we’d recommend to ‘live’ although it will always be there for you to visit. Here’s our selections… Rawai Rawai is a quiet area located on the southern tip of Phuket, and it is known for its proximity to beautiful beaches (although the actual beachfront along the Rawai promenade is not particularly memorable), seafood restaurants, quirky bars and burgeoning nightlife. The best residential areas are off the main sois and up into the hilly areas around the town. It’s about 50 minutes from the airport (leave yourself an hour during peak traffic), 10 minutes from Nai Harn Beach and 20 minutes from Phuket Town. Tropposurfer
Depends on what you like. If ya like the bush the inland and up country is the ticket. Close proximity to large towns and cities both north and south for hub transport is easy and has varied landscapes both coastal and inland. If you want a degree of sophistication then there's options to have both a quiet life and be able to travel short distances to nightlife, shopping, and good services. If ya love the sea than theres tons of places along the western coast. Phang nga is on the west coast is quiet for the most part compared to Phuket. If you wanna be closer to Khrong Thep then the gulf coastline might suit better.
Popular Post Issanman
I moved to Phuket over a year ago and I love it. The traffic is starting to suck now, but I am walking distance from anything I need, other than immigration. If you think it is too expensive here, then you didn't stay long enough to learn where the bargains are. I have my own wheels. So I never need expensive taxis or minivans. There is a lot more here to see than tourist areas and traffic jams. Edited March 18, 2023 by Issanman
