Uncertainty lingers over elections as prime minister to dissolve house on March 20

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha filed a motion, on Friday, to dissolve the House of Representatives on March 20 paving the way for elections in May.

 

Prayut has been under pressure to dissolve the house for weeks given the lack of quorum in parliament and the fracture of his governing party.

 

It is understood that he has waited until the last possible moment to establish his new Ruam Thai Sang Chart party and negotiate defections and support.
