RichardColeman Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Be better off flying the drones over the tracks down south to try and stop the religious nut jobs
hotchilli Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I hope to use this service when it's up and running, at the moment the cattle train take 3 hours from Nakhon pathom to Hua Hin station.
spidermike007 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Faster, more modern and more efficient forms of transportation are desperately needed here. Thailand is decades behind the curve, and the current train system is an embarrassment to a nation that refers to itself as developing. The roads are choked up, due to one administration after another ignoring the issue of efficient cargo transport. It is time to get with the program. Sloth is never an excuse. 1
KhunLA Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 5 hrs vs 2 hrs travel time. Bit of stretch on both accounts.

We were in Nakhon Si Thammarat in January and wanted to go to Hua Hin by train. I checked train schedules but all I could see from either NST or Thung Song Junction were trains that would have got us in to Hua Hin in the early hours of the morning (01:00-07:00am). Not a single morning time train departure from the info on the SRT website. In the end we stayed south for a few extra days then flew back to Bangkok.

The trains here feel like something out of a 1967 time capsule. So little in the way of pride. What gives? 1
