Immigration arrest Thai/Myanmar couple for smuggling in illegal foreign workers

Siam Rath reported that Samut Prakan immigration had arrested a Thai/Myanmar married couple on charges of smuggling in illegal migrant workers.

 

They were acting on a tip from a member of the public about illegal activity in the central and eastern regions of the country.

 

Investigators discovered that a pick-up was transporting illegal immigrants from a meeting point at the end of King Kaew Soi 25 in Bang Plee.

A Myanmar man named as Wai was found acting suspiciously.

 

A man called Isaret, 34, was driving and a Thai woman called Borwon, 51, was in the front passenger seat. A Myanmar couple were in the back.

 

Isaret, from Myanmar, and Borwon said they were married and admitted to smuggling migrants for two years.

Wai had paid them 3,000 baht on this occasion to transport the two migrants, So, 28, and New, 25, from Chanthaburi.

None of Wai, So, or New had passports or documents and had entered illegally.

 

The Thai/Myanmar couple were charged with conspiracy to smuggle illegal immigrants.

 

Wai was charged with aiding and abetting illegal immigration and the others with illegal entry.

 

The vehicle involved and a phone was taken into evidence and all the suspects were pictured with Samut Prakan immigration officers for the record.

Makes sense. There obviously aren't enough people in the country to fill open positions (sarcasm in case you didn't realize it). Need to bring in people from outside the country. Starting to look like the US.

Agree , the country needs willing workers and helps the inflation figures .
