Most reliable taxi app in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

What's the most reliable taxi app to use in Bangkok? Grab, Bolt or InDrive?

I've heard that Grab is the most expensive, but is it also the most reliable app?

Reliability isn't dependant on app but on driver. They come ot they don't. If a better fare comes up while they are on the way to you, they may cancel your trip. You can then start again. All depends a bit where you are located. Sukhumvit area is not reliable for taxis. Too many hotels & tourists to rip off.

Stand beside the road and do the appropriate Thai downward wave. Works every time for me.

It won't work though if like a mate of mine you live 800m away from the road in a gated community.

What do you mean by "reliable?" I just use the cheapest one (usually Bolt). During rush hour, I might need to rotate through the apps to find a driver.

Grab around Sukhumvit is <deleted> if you want to go out of the city to say a golf course. They will cancel on the way to you if they get a ride on the side of the road on the way. Grab are normally normal taxis looking for short high fare rides. From outer golf course back to Sukhumvit seems to be ok with Grab, Just have all 3 apps. Its Thailand, land of disorganisation. Grab is mostly taxis (scum), Bolt private drivers, InDrive I have installed, but not used yet.

Last time I checked, the Bolt app didn't have an option to add a credit card which to me is the primary benefit of Grab, Uber, etc., here and in other countries.

Interesting,  I won't add a credit card to ride share apps in Thailand even when i can.

Too many ways for the driver to scam you or screw up and then it's on you to deal with either (a) a non-responsive chatbot in another language or (b) your own credit card company for the chargeback.

I use credit cards extensively so I'm def not anti-credit card, I just won't use them with ride share/food delivery companies here.

It is real, it's the accepted way to flag taxi's.
