Back to back Tourist Visa - Savannahkhet

Recommended Posts

If the relevant supporting docs are is in order, is there any issue obtaining a 2nd Tourist Visa (SE) from Savannahket directly after receiving another Tourist Visa from there 3 months prior?  Never left the country - extended the 60 day visa at Immigration.  Tia

So what about history in Thailand prior to your first tourist visa.

Certainly PP Cambodia can refuse a second one.

Savannakhet less likely.

Hopefully someone with recent experience can add info.

We do have reports in Savannakhet before covid in 2019, they were saying if you stayed 3 out of the last 6 months in Thailand you cant get one, but who knows whats happening there now.

Thanks for the input.  Prior to this I have been in Thailand since 2019 on a combo of ME Non Os and Marriage extensions.  But am now divorced. How do you think this situation will be viewed?

Well you can apply and if rejected enter via land.

I assume that you haven't used your 2 visa exempt entries via land this calendar year.

Obviously no Thai kids?

Thanks Jack. Yes still have the 2 Visa Exempts up the sleeve. No kids. Cheers

Bit depends on how much longer you wish to stay in Thailand.

The two visa exempt entries via land with extensions gives you 4 months.

It you are in loas trying for a second tourist visa not silly idea.

If rejected the stamp wouldn't/shouldn't prevent land border entry.

Hi all,

I was a bit surprised by the refusal of a SETV

because I thought that the Thai Consulate in

Savannakhet would be one of the lenient..

FYI, I just made my 3rd visa-exempt entry

into Thailand last week, and I didn't have

any problem with that. I did all my 3 visa-

exempt entries into Thailand via Padang

Besar in Southern Thailand but I always

spent at least 1 night in Malaysia before

coming back to Thailand to stay on the

safe side.

I was in Savannakhet a couple of weeks ago, nothing to do with visas, but I met a visa runner in the hotel who had been refused a SETV. His history was first entry SETV extended for total 90 days. Then border bounce with 75 day stay. The reason given for refusal was more than 90 continuous days spent in Thailand.

I've got the same travel history as that guy, as well having spent 9 months here on the Special Tourist Visa in 2022, with a 1-month break before my current stint. I was planning on going to Laos (Vientiane) for another SETV at the end of this month. Looks like I might be wasting my time going to the embassy?

What long is  the current "stint" based on what? Tourist Visa or....and for how long after the STV.

After the 9 months on the STV, I had 1 month out. Then my current stint (1 SETV from HCM + 1 VE from land crossing) which will amount to 5.5 months and take me to the end of this month.

That's the current stay AFTER 9 months on METV.

Amazing.

So your plan is a SETV from Laos?

Good luck with that.

Reminds me of ancient series called "outer limits"

If you still have visa exempt land borders available then that would be better option.

Check out threads Nong Khai border bounce.

Just try it and be prepared to enter visa exempt if they won't give you a visa. I think you have a decent chance, as none of your previous visas were issued by them.

I've just been messaging a poster on another website who says he's had 4 back-to-back tourist visas in the last 12 months. The first was from a Middle Eastern embassy, and the next 3 were from Vientiane, the last of which was in January. He's off to Vientiane again next week for another one.

I think 3 SETVs was about the limit in Vientiane in one passport before you got the 'red refused stamp' prior to covid.
