“It’s really easy to say as an actor or as somebody in the industry that it’s always been a dream to do something like this and it genuinely has been. To be able to be part of a blockbuster film, where you can see the reactions from everywhere. That to me is the most exciting thing.”

Aimée Kwan, a British-Thai actress, talks about her excitement to be part of a Hollywood blockbuster, John Wick Chapter 4, the latest in the John Wick franchise. Her role as ‘Mia’ is also her very first role in a Hollywood movie.

“So my character of Mia is connected to Donnie Yen’s character of Caine. I hope I’m not spoiling anything now by saying that she’s his daughter. So, you see that relationship, how that works and how that drives him throughout the movie.”

As the only Southeast Asian actress in a worldwide blockbuster movie, Aimée says she’s proud to represent her ethnicity, while she hopes to see more Southeast Asian actors on screen.

What absolutely riveting non-news.

My Mrs tells me that she was in one of the many Thai TV soaps several years ago.

Peculiarly written headline, I guess constructed as such to meet the never ending demand for Thai soft power...

Anyway, upon reading the article, it's actually incorrect, she is British-Thai-Malaysian.

Thank the lord there's no Cambodian in the mix, that really would have been awkward.

Edit - having googled her, I found this ????

Sad to say that I've never heard of John Wick or his 'franchise' but the actress certainly looks lovely. I wish her well and hope being associated with a Hollywood movie doesn't damage any serious acting intentions that she has.

terrible movie. i know i often fall down dozens of flights of stairs without a single worry in the world and spring back up like im 19 after a short time.

She didn't have a big part. Mainly playing violin in the park. Was that acting?

She's basically Chinese.  All the British,  Thai and Malaysian extract is for fodder.  Born in London to a Thai Chinese mother and Malaysian Chinese father  hence surname Kwan.

But of course,  ThaiPBS would jump any chance to bring up anything Thai related.

Hollywood isn't what it used to be. It's falling faster than the dollar.

Please don't complicate things and spoil their fun, they are only simple singular minded people.

The movie is playing in every major cinema in Pattaya right now. If any article about any movie is ever topical, this one is highly topical right now.

You'd think even a simple so-called journalist would be able to use Google.

C'mon guys, just let the girl have her 5 minutes of fame....

How does it make any difference if she's 100% Thai or 25% Thai? She's got as much right to claim Thai and for the Thai's to claim her as any farang has to claim their nationality, given the mixed up mess of genes we all are.

US 4250 million in first two weeks, but yet to match John Wick: Chapter 3’s $327 million ... sure it will.

I saw it while in NZ same day as family here went, it's fictional escapism, but perhaps a generation or two removed from much of this forum's demographic.

I saw Living too, star performance from Bill Nighy facing his death (now that one probably would resonate here)

Great escapist movie series, I would have thought he would have killed off most of the protagonists by now but apparently not, number 5 in the offing and a spin off.

Also enjoyed Bill Nighy in Living as well. Slightly less frantic than John Wick.

Such a weird headline.

I love a good action action movie, but this one was crap. Even Keanu Reeves looked like he was bored.

That reminds me of the old saying, "I like a good movie, but this movie was nothing like one".

I have yet to see it and quite enjoyed the others in the series, but IMO it became very formulaic later on in the piece.
