A member of the Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Rescue Team died after performing CPR on a patient in the early hours of this morning. The cause of his death is currently under investigation.

A fellow member of the rescue team, Panya Choomanee, spoke to Channel 7 today about the death of his friend, 45 year old Somsak Sisue.

At 3am today, Somsak joined the team to help a worker at a manufacturing plant in the Rojana Industrial Park. The worker lost consciousness and needed CPR. Somsak worked tirelessly to administer CPR to the patient until the medical team from Uthai Hospital arrived at the scene. However, the hospital team confirmed that the patient had already passed away and left the site.

While the rescue team was preparing to transfer the patient’s body to his family, Somsak suddenly collapsed on the ground with blood coming out of his nose.

The rest of the team immediately administered CPR to Somsak and contacted the hospital team that had just left the scene to return. However, Somsak passed away on the way to the hospital.

I gave CPR to a lady for 15 minutes who had collapsed with Bradycardia. At the time I was quite muscular in the top half of my body so all I had to do to give adequate compression was lean into the sternum and keep my elbows locked. Even then it was very strenuous and exhausting. If this man was slight build he would have to put a lot of effort into the job, increasing his blood pressure and potentially risking ruptured blood vessels. R.I.P. mate 'job's a gud 'un'
