Several Pattaya beach side resorts, bars, and hotels benefited from the arrival of crew members of the US Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, said Thanet Suparashusrangsi, chairman of the Tourism Industry Council of Chonburi Province.

 

The USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, led by the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, has been engaged in an extensive 11-month patrol mission within the US 7th Fleet area of operations since November of last year. Recently, the group has completed joint drills with Japan and South Korea, and has also passed through disputed parts of the South China Sea without any problems.

 

The carrier then joined the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United States from April 24th-29th. Some of the 5,000 crew members of the aircraft carrier also visited Pattaya to take a break, according to Thanet.

Glad to see our Sailors getting a break and having a good time.  Met a few of those young men and they all seemed to be having a fun time.

When you see the quality of what is on offer in Pattaya's bar these days, reminding soldiers that prostitution is illegal in ToS was unnecessary.

Just curious, does the US Navy allow moustaches ?, it was full set or clean shaven back in my day in RN.

Back when I pulled into port, the command gave out condoms.  Young men are going to do what young men do, especially after being at sea for a long time and with money burning in their pockets. The theory was that you might as well try to keep everyone healthy.

Back in my Pattaya bar hopping days when a USN ship visited, the US Navy police would go through all the bars strictly at 9pm and make sure all their navy boys were back on board, don't know if it's any different now with this visit!

Bars, and hotels benefit  from the  U.S  Navy ?  There's not much else in this  International, Hi So, family friendly  City  for  any Sailor is there....

Yes there was always a box of condoms near the gangway.There was usually a bulletin produced the day before entering a port of areas/districts to avoid.We used this is a reference for the taxis to take us.Thats where all the fun was.The island of Curacao had a place out of town called Camp Allegro where as an 18 yo I had fun until I ran out of money. Ah the good old days.
