Goes without saying.

Apparently, some insightful [not] Farang circles are OK with this.

Rather shameful.

If he wants to come back then why does he not just do it, instead of making countless public announcements. Obviously he won't be able to quietly slip in to the country unnoticed, but why the big build up  beforehand and just prior to the election ?

"to raise his grandchildren" what kind of rubbish is that ? People like him don't even raise their own kids, its done by nannies and servants and boarding schools in foreign countries,   The raising of grandchildren by their grandparents is a burden undertaken out of necessity  normally by the poorest members of society in Issan

Although maybe he is hoping that the parents of his grandchildren will be fully occupied in government as that is the only way his return will be painless for him.

All the bleating about how he is "prepared to do his time" actually makes me want to puke if he thought there was any chance of incarceration he would stay exactly where he is

Convicted under the courts run by the military after their illegal coups.

If the coups were illegal, then so were the court cases.

Look at the photo in the OP  not a single grey hair !  in the unlikely event that he finds himself a bit short of cash, I'm sure the guys at "grecian 2000"  would employ him as a model

Just before the coup? Certainly gee on the troops so to speak. I would think as I type weapons are being brought in to Thailand.

Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra aims to ‘come home’ this July

After 17 years on the run and facing arrest on arrival in Thailand, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said in his social media micro-blog that he has decided to ‘come home’ to care for his grandchildren in July this year, before his birthday. He added that he has been parted from his family and he is now old.

This is not the first time Thaksin has indicated an intention to come back to Thailand this year, the most recent being when his daughter gave birth to a baby boy earlier this month.

Thaksin Shinawatra has been in self-imposed exile since 2006, following a military coup led by Sonthi Boonyaratglin.

At Last, Thaksin Says He Is Coming Back Within July
By Thai Newsroom Reporters

AT LAST, DEPOSED PRIME MINISTER Thaksin Shinawatra today (May 9) tweeted to say he is returning home from self-exile overseas within upcoming July.

That appeared to be the most clear-cut statement which Thaksin has made among his repeatedly proclaimed homecoming plans circulated on social media after he has spent nearly 17 years globetrotting and living abroad since he was deposed in the 2006 coup.

Thaksin posted on his Twitter page today to say he is coming back within July with purported intent to literally babysit his seventh grandchild, born to his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra earlier this month, as well as six other grandchildren.

Thaksin declined to pinpoint a date for his planned homecoming but he said he will make it ahead of July 26 which marks his 74th birthday.

YES.

His homecoming will be akin to setting the cat free among the pigeons.

He is only a wanted criminal because a dictator and treasonistic military says so.

I suspect any successful political group or person that threatens access to the trough will also become a criminal not long after being elected.

Old dogs and new tricks!!!

I know its an insult to the intelligence of dogs.

How is he going to raise his grandkids from prison?

I don't think so. The greatest threat to the nation, is currently the PM, of the nation, and his toxic party. May that threat be gone soon.

Awaiting the memoir book.

Should be a dandy.
