A Thai man allegedly brooding over problems with his girlfriend decided to get wasted on rice whiskey and waded into the Pattaya sea to spend the night on a buoy line.

The sullen boyfriend, Mr. Anon Srirue, 29, was found about 50 meters off Jomtien Beach on a swimming buoy at 5 AM this morning, May 11th.

He was sleeping on a buoy and was rescued safely back to the shore by Sawang Boriboon rescuers. The man seemed heavily intoxicated, rescuers told The Pattaya News.

I've heard of sleeping upon a clothes line!

Will be used for justification of the 300 baht tourist fee.

Search and rescue fee.

Hardly a boy.  He's suffering from a lifetime of Mummy/Granny love that's convince him he is the centre of the Universe and so cannot take rejection.

There ya go, attempting to impose western logic on reasons for government schemes. Doesn't matter if Thai or not, just present it as justification. Most won't notice

Should have took a short walk up the street and found a good listener.

Maybe when he fell out with his girl friend he deicided to try it out with a boy.

Many's the time I've gone to bed with a woman and woken next to a 'buoy’.. ????

In the English language a "boyfriend" can refer to a male partner of anh age.

I don't know what it was from the OP in particular that prompted your rant, but it's quite common for people to act in a slightly strange manner after having their heart broken.

My rant is prompted by the huge numbers of stories on here about Thai men who cannot take rejection so kill/maim/disfigure/kidnap their ex-girlfriends.  Have you noticed any?  On this occasion, thankfully he only put himself in harm's way.

Yes I've noticed plenty.

This story, as you acknowledge, is not one of them.
