Bank letters?

Featured Replies

What is the situation when a person becomes too old or infirm to go to the bank to acquire a letter stating his finances for immigration purposes?

Either employ an agent or get a friend or partner to do it.

Bank letter would be least of his worries.

Also needs to attend immigration.

When my father was in hospital, I went to Phitsanulok Immigration and explained that it would need an ambulance to transport him there and back. Both our extensions were due at the same time, I offered to obtain a doctors certificate, but it was not needed, they waived the need for him to attend, provided I did both extensions at the same time.

I had a lot more problems getting the bank letter without him, even after I explained he was in ICU they were adamant that he attend the bank in person to sign the request for the letter, after I threatened them with bringing him from the hospital to the bank in an ambulance (full lights and sirens) and have him carried inside, they relented and gave me the letter.

Don't the documents have to be signed at the bank?

Would a signed affidavit not work ? There was a link here awhile back to download one.

With many banks, they can be quite obstinate in what they will allow without the account owner's presence, even if you have a professionally drawn up Power of Attorney. All you can do is try.

AFAIK the bank letter is not signed by the customer. No doubt his passport would need to be seen by bank staff.
