PHETCHABUN: -- In a collaborative effort between the Immigration Bureau and the Region 5 Police, under the leadership of Pol. Lt. Gen. Suphanat Jarernruangtrakul, the Commissioner of the Region 5 Police, and Pol. Col. Sarawut Konkrua, the Deputy Commissioner of the Region 5 Police, the Region 5 Immigration Bureau has ramped up its endeavors to combat violations of the Immigration Act of 2522 (1979).

The primary focus of these intensified efforts is on offenses related to the illegal employment of foreign workers, aiding and abetting individuals in evading arrest and unlawfully entering the country, as well as addressing potential issues of human trafficking and labor exploitation, reported Siam Rath.

On May 12th, 2023, Pol. Col. Puwadol Poomi, the Superintendent of the Immigration Police in Phetchabun, issued an order to conduct an operation at Golden Line Business Co., Ltd., located at 99 Moo 4, Kanchu Subdistrict, Bueng Sam Phan District, Phetchabun Province.

The objective of this operation was to raise awareness among employers, businesses, and foreign workers regarding their legal obligations. Additionally, it aimed to conclude ongoing inspections within the bureau's jurisdiction, ensuring transparency and compliance with the law.

During the operation, approximately 200 foreign workers were found, all of whom were in compliance with the law. The immigration authorities, along with their investigation team, promptly carried out public outreach, emphasizing adherence to the Immigration Act of 2522 (1979) and highlighting the legal obligations of employers and foreign workers.

Enforcement actions apply to both Thai employers and foreign workers engaged in work without the required permits or beyond the authorized scope. Violators may face fines ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 Baht and may be subject to deportation to their home countries.
