The National Federation of Thai Film Associations has backed down on its new criteria requiring that, to be nominated for this year’s Suphannahong National Film Awards, films must be shown in cinemas in five regions of the country.

The Federation’s revised position came after numerous film directors and producers pulled out of the competition, in protest against the new rule.

Under the revised rule, agreed by the Federation today (Friday), films must be at least 60 minutes long and shown in a cinema or in any venue for commercial film display for at least seven days during 2022.
