Committee Approves Merger Between THAI and Thai Smile Airways

The Commander-in-chief of the Thai Navy admiral Choengchai Chomchoengpaet on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, said it was up to the new government to make a decision on the purchase of the submarine from China.

Thailand, Cambodia, Laos soldiers unite in border security sports event

A unique sporting event kicked off between the border security forces of Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, aiming to strengthen military ties between the three nations. The mini-games are taking place in Ubon Ratchathani, organised by the Suranaree task force, and feature men’s football, pétanque, volleyball, and golf. A total of 60 athletes from each country are participating in the competition.

Re-run of election in Nakhon Pathom set for May 21st

Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) has set this Sunday as the new election day for Nakhon Pathom’s constituency 1. The original election in the constituency on May 14th was suspended after heavy downpours and strong winds damaged polling stations.

Serial thief remains elusive despite ongoing theft at temple

The abbot of a Chong Lom Temple in the central province of Chai Nat reached out to news agencies for assistance regarding an ongoing theft at the temple. The serial temple thief is still at large even though CCTV footage clearly features his face while committing the crime.

Rangers look for injured gaur after it was struck by a car

Forest rangers in Wang Nam Khiao district of the north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima are trying to track down a gaur, believed to have been injured when it was struck by a pick-up truck on a road in the Khao Paeng Ma no-hunting area on Thursday night.

4 suspects arrested for smuggling 7 million meth pills near Mekong River

Officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) arrested two Thai men and two Thai women near the Mekong River in the Isaan province of Nakhon Panom after the gang smuggled seven million meth pills into Thailand and prepared to deliver them into a third country.

Pickup truck veers off road, crashes into wall and flips, injuring two in Chon Buri

A pickup truck driver in Chon Buri lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall and a signpost, causing the truck to overturn and injuring two people inside. The incident took place on Soi Chaiyaphon Withi 13, near a flour and starch manufacturing company in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri Province. Emergency services promptly responded to the scene to assist the accident victims.

Number of injured from Phuket speedboat crash rises to 35, nobody missing

All but 2 of the passengers on the speedboat that crashed into a pillar near Chalong Pier in Phuket have been injured. According to an update from the Phuket Express and Bangkok Post, the number of injured people stands at 35, with all passengers accounted for. Earlier media reports had stated there was 1 person missing.

6 Indian men arrested for overstaying in southern Thailand

Tourist police arrested six Indian men for overstaying their visas at a rental house in the Tamot district of Pattalung province in the southern part of Thailand. They also worked illegally in the province as ice cream sellers.

14 macaque carcasses found in house raid, wildlife trafficking suspects arrested

A recent raid in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi, led to the discovery of 14 deceased macaques and five more in distress, locked up without food or water. The provincial wildlife protection area director, Prawet Sunthornthai, led the wildlife conservation team that searched the rented house in Ban Khao Mainual, tambon Khao Yai, after receiving a tip from a neighbour.

Korean man suspected of smuggling crystal meth from Thailand to South Korea

Officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) arrested a Korean man for using crystal meth at a condominium in the Sukhumvit neighbourhood of Bangkok. Police also believe he is involved with a Thai woman smuggling the drug from Thailand to South Korea.
