I like the rides at Intel better, but the lines at Google are shorter.

Have you ever heard of Kings Island? Or Cedar Point (roller coaster capital of the world)?

.......  didn't think so

Isn't Kings Island where Microsoft operates the world's biggest waterslide? And I believe that IMB runs the roller coaster at Cedar Point.

Normally I would applaud a government standing up to a corporation which is trying to muscle itself in a better position. In this situation though it looks like toe corporation is standing up for itself against an abusive government.

Isn't he going to sign on to the 6 week ban?

He already did.  You probably don't know because he's certainly not taking paints to publicize his decision.

DeSantis skipped talking about his 6-week abortion ban to an anti-abortion audience

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/14/desantis-signed-floridas-abortion-ban-but-avoids-talking-about-it-00092101

Ron DeSantis quietly signs Florida's 6-week abortion ban into law

https://news.yahoo.com/ron-desantis-quietly-signs-floridas-053150233.html

And that reticence of his is probably due to the great pride he takes in signing off on the 6 week ban.

More likely they are trying to cut costs as a result of losing customers/subscribers as they have been focusing on wokery rather than what they used to be famous for, which was creating entertaining stories that focused on actually telling a story rather than shoe horning "the narrative" into stories where it doesn't fit.

Disney are also closing their ridiculously expensive Star wars hotel (after just 18 months) that they spent hundreds of millions of $ building.   Is that DeSantis fault as well?  Was he responsible for setting the price at $2400 per night or are Disney execs just idiots which means they alone are responsible for the $5bn worth of cuts they are trying to make, but are trying to save face (and their jobs) by pointing fingers elsewhere?

That's what DeSantis says. Disney's financials are not bad.

You do realize that the move to Florida was with the aim to cut costs compared to California, right? That's the opposite of your narrative.

Like so many "gotchas" the left tries to use, this one is a little more nuanced.

First, the new Disney CEO already hated the planned move.  As did many of the employees who would be forced to move from California to Florida. No new jobs were to be created, just a move of employees from one state to another. So there were no "jobs lost".

Second, Disney is still investing bigly in Florida- $17 billion in the future according to the company.

Where is the link to the claim the Disney CEO already hated the planned move? Considering 200 odd employees had already relocated to Florida?

Great news for the California Governor however. A win for him.

So the plans to invest $17 billion in Florida, and create 13,000 jobs, over the next 10 years now also not looking so good. The way things are going.

GOP senators unsettled by DeSantis’s escalating fight with Disney

“This is the biggest or second-biggest employer in the state. Half the tourism that comes to our state comes to visit Disney. It’s a reason people come to our state. After they come there, people move there. So I think cooler heads need to prevail. My view is we have to do everything to help our businesses grow,” Scott said in an interview.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R), who has represented Florida in the Senate since 2011, told Fox News last month it’s “problematic” if state actions toward an individual or business appear driven more by politics.

No surprise that Iger is not a big fan of DeSantis. He gives big to Democratic politicians- 100k to Hillary, 75k to the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee, etc.   The planned move has been delayed and delayed due to employee intransigence

According to the New York Times:

Mr. Iger, who came out of retirement to retake Disney’s reins, was much less enthusiastic about the project — even before the company became mired in its battle with Mr. DeSantis. As soon as he returned to Disney, Mr. Iger began telling lieutenants, for instance, that it made little sense to move Imagineering so far away from Disney’s movie studios. As he is fond of saying, “Creative teams need to be together.”

The project was also running over budget and behind schedule. Just another of the previous CEO's decisions that Iger was reversing.

Will be interesting to see if he is also less enthusiastic about the $17 billion investment and creation of 13,000 jobs, over the next 10 years in Florida. Or as you interpret less enthusiastic, hates the plan..........

This would only be true if the team were never to grow and you'd also have to ignore all the supporting jobs that are not directly under that team. In other words what you said is not true in reality.

DeSantis picked a stupid battle. He started a fight with one of the most important employers of his state and for what gain? He can make it a big theatre which puts him in the news all the time for a good while but the risk reward ratio is just idiotic.

Just the legal costs for defending this will cost the state of Florida millions. And then you have the trickle effect on other companies who will think twice about situating themselves in Florida with such a vindicative Governor. Florida had a good name for being business friendly. Takes a long time to build a good reputation but it can be destroyed in a heartbeat.

I say that as someone who disagrees with some of the content that Disney produced in recent years.
