Pro-monarchy groups presented a letter to the U.S ambassador yesterday, they had been rallying in front of the embassy to demand that the US stop alleged interference in Thailand’s internal affairs,
The ambassador  said the US respects the Thai monarchy and does not particularly support any Thai political party while waiting to work together with the government that emerges from democracy.

The Democrat Party has deferred electing its new leader and board members until after the Election Commission finishes certifying the party's 24 elected MPs,  


A replacement for  Jurin Lak-sana- is expected in July.

 

Child rights advocate and former senator Montree Sintha-wichai, along with his wife and their foundation, are facing recommended charges by the police. Mr. Montree is alleged to have physically assaulted children under his care at the foundation and forced them to work at his wife's resort. A video showing Mr. Montree using a wooden baton to strike some of the children provided evidence. During a police visit to Montree’s foundation and residence, 56 children and youths aged one to 18 were found, with eight showing signs of physical abuse.


A 39-year-old man arrested in Sakhon Nakhon has confessed to killing a young woman in an apartment in  Pattaya over a 30,000 baht debt. The victim, identified as Rattana, was found dead in a third-floor room. The man became angry, covered her mouth, and choked her. In self-defense, she tried to stab him with glass, but he retaliated by stabbing her in the neck.


The royal household announce His Majesty the King will cover the medical expenses of people injured when a roof collapsed at a school during a storm in Phichit late on Monday 


Caretaker Prime Minister  Gen. Prayut visited the school and area yesterday in a show of support after the incident that killed four students, 3 adults, and injured 18.


Meanwhile heavy storms again lashed much of the north east last night, bringing down trees and damaging property.

 

Thailand will implement a new law to help protect  blue whales from extinction, the law designates blue whales and leopard sharks as “wildlife reserves,” to be protected however existing laws have not been effective.
The species is close to extinction due to illegal hunting as well as climate change and acidic water in the oceans which has affected their food supply..

UN rights chief Volker Turk  said  "The damage and loss of life was both foreseeable and avoidable - and is clearly linked with the systematic denial of human rights,"
