Members of the public are advised not to lower their guard against COVID-19, as the virus has been staging a comeback since April, infecting as many as 40,000 people a day now, about 20 times more than the rate at the start of April. The death toll has also risen by a factor of 20, to 66 per week, in the same period.

 

According to Dr. Nitiphat Jiarakul, chief of the Division of Respiratory Diseases and Tuberculosis at the Faculty of Medicine of Mahidol University, daily admissions to hospitals have increased to about 400 from about 20 in April and, of these, 5% are suffering with lung infections and half of those patients died.

 

He also said that half of those deaths were directly linked to their COVID-19 infection and the other half to a resurgence of a comorbidity, such as kidney, emphysema and heart diseases.

 

He attributed the sharp rise in COVID-19 infections to increased outdoor activities, such as political campaign rallies and other crowded events and the fact that many people have become complacent and are no longer wearing face masks in public.

Can't believe all the water splashing during Songkran didn't wash the virus away.........as it was promised it would in 2020.

Why you should get the bivarient booster.

Are they going to keep making a splash about each and every wave? Other countries have long moved on.

Rinse and repeat on a monthly or weekly basis for the next 30 years...

Interestingly enough, I was in Global the other day and a larger than normal percentage of employees were mask-free which gives me the impression that a lot of masking is due to corporate policy.  What this begins to show is what percentage of Thai are worried vs those who are not.  It's about 50-50% right now from what I can see.  But for those who are worried - please for your own peace of mind... mask-up and make sure to get mRNA Covid shots whenever they are recommended and offered to the public.

This is only the 2nd time I can remember when the word comorbidity has been used. The 1st was when the elderly gentalman died who had several severe comorbidities died with XBB.1.16. Interesting that emphysema is being stated as having a resurgence. Maybe, just maybe this is why there is an increase in ventilations on patients with covid.

Results

We found that the effect of PM_2.5 on COPD morbidity was associated with its levels and that PM_2.5 and cigarette smoke could have a synergistic impact on COPD development and progression. Both vitro and vivo studies demonstrated that PM_2.5 exposure could induce pulmonary inflammation, decrease lung function, and cause emphysematous changes. Furthermore, PM_2.5 could markedly aggravated cigarette smoke-induced changes.

Conclusions

In short, we found that prolonged chronic exposure to PM_2.5 resulted in decreased lung function, emphysematous lesions and airway inflammation. Most importantly, long-term PM_2.5 exposure exacerbateed cigarette smoke-induced changes in COPD.

Wrong, two of our local hospitals are offering Pfizer bivarient boosters.

My Mother had the Moderna bivalent booster last Sep 16th and next day she had a blood clot that caused a stroke and a massive brain bleed (the ER doctors description). She never recovered and died 3 months later. You need to look very closely at the risk benefit of vaccines. If you are in good health then the risk from a side affect of a vaccine is greater than the risk of contracting the virus.

I seem to recall soi 6 getting a good spray-down too. 

We are still double masking just in case. Only two weeks to go before we can get our 5th booster. Stay safe everyone.

Sorry to hear about your mum, but the risk of the vaccine vs covid is not greater, that is utter rubbish. The data does not show that mRNA vaccines cause blood clots.

Flu is a threat also, but we dont have it rammed down our throats every day like covid.

There's no mass hysteria, only accusations of it by those who believe conspiracy theories and not only distrust science and expert advice but feel the need to spend their days spreading misinformation about covid.

Sorry for the weak fragile and sick people, but they should take care of themselves and stay away from infections or dangers

 

They need to stop being selfish, thinking they have the right to force normal healthy people to alter their behaviour and inconvience their lives. 

 

If someone is so sick they will die or become seriously ill from theses now weak strains of covid, they need to stay in isolation, as they could just as easily die from the common cold, food poisoning, pollution, bacterial infection or air pollution.  They need to take responsibity for their own health and stop acting entitled or special. 

 

They are just being silly now if they are double masking and trying to get others to keep wearing masks.

Sorry for your loss. My neighbour died of a stroke one week after a Covid shot. A woman I know back in France is half paralysed after hers. It's not rare. Or we will have to redefine the term "rare".
