Changing Jobs

Featured Replies

Just a quick question I am leaving one teaching job at the end of July, they have told me my work permit and corresponding imm-b will be cancelled. I am starting a new teaching job at the beginning of September. My new school requires an imm-b so they can then get me a work permit. Question -do I have 7 days to leave the country ? if yes, where would you recommend ? and can I apply for an imm-b in that country. Do I just need all the usual paperwork and a letter from my new school stating my employment start date.

If you are here on an extension of stay from Immigration (not making border runs every 90 days) the extension will end when work permit is returned and you will have seven days to depart Thailand. Malaysia should be fine to obtain a new visa with the required paperwork. If paperwork not yet available you could just make a border run for a 30 day stamp to provide some time.

Thankyou for explaining and clarifying that, I've had conflicting advice from others. What paper work do I need ? is it a letter from the school confirming my teaching position. Sorry I am completely clueless about all this. How do I go about getting the visa from Malaysia ?.

It is best to contact the Consulate you plan to use; or a visa service from that location as exact paperwork can vary. If you search "penang" and read those posts believe you will find names of visa services you could email.
