Thailand’s Election Commission has ordered a recount of votes at 47 polling stations, after it was discovered that the number of ballots cast in the general election does not match the number of voters.


The vote recount will take place this Sunday and will affect 47 out of 95 thousand polling stations across the country.

 

A student group at Songklah University, has called for a public referendum for independence of what they call "Patani State," However in response, a Major General stated  their call for a referendum is considered separatism and is illegal. Security agencies are closely monitoring the student group.

 

More than 140 Thai nationals have sought help after being duped by online scam gangs to work in Myanmar. Some 60 people have been rescued so far, many had their passports taken by the crooks.
Consular offices, chambers of commerce and other social groups met to try to resolve the situation and speed up the process of returning the Thai nationals.

 

A man slashed both his daughter in-law’s legs then locked the house and set it on fire where she burned to death in Nakhon Si Thammarat.


Police arrived to find the house completely gutted with the charred body of the 29 year old deceased lying near a doorway.


60, year old attacker was standing nearby and admitted attacking the woman but denied setting the house ablaze. Investigations continue. 

 

40 highway police officers allegedly involved in a kickback scheme with overloaded trucks will be reassigned to inactive positions. Legal action and disciplinary measures will be taken against those found guilty.


The government is being urged to improve pay and conditions for nurses at state hospitals, some 7,000 or 48 percent of newly trained nurses quit each year.

 

The initial phase of a high-speed railway connecting Kunming and Bangkok is set to open in 2026. Delays have plagued the project since its proposal in 2010, primarily due to financing concerns. Thailand has insisted on self-funding the project instead of borrowing from China. The first phase will cover a distance of 251 kilometers with six stops from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima.
