MOVE FORWARD spokesman Rangsiman Rome this evening (June 10) said the Election Commission’s decision to investigate whether party leader and prime minister-designate Pita Limjaroenrat had violated sections 42(3) and 151 of the election organic law was tantamount to kicking and trying to cut off the party’s legs but this will fail, TV Channel 7 said.

 

While the polling agency will likely verify Pita as MP along with the others, it remains to be seen whether it will lodge a criminal lawsuit against him for allegedly being disqualified to contest the nationwide election, given his holding a 0.0035% share in an off-air ITV channel.

 

Attacking Move Forward this way is clearly a political move, Rangsiman said, but pointed out that as the accused is innocent until proven guilty Pita could still become prime minister with court procedures taking a long time.

It's ironic (some might say undemocratic) that an unelected body can decide electability of candidates. Thst's not to say the EC can provide "even-handed" relevant documented information about candidates that complies with Thai "fake news" and Computer Act laws.

But ultimately, it should be the body of the electorate (the voting public) that should make that decision at the ballot box. Some might argue such political lattitude might allow alleged criminals into public office. But how was that different from 2014-2022?

The EC will have to endorse Mr Pita as a list-MP as part of the election process and then consider if he is qualified to hold the post.

However, the EC can investigate a criminal offence against Mr Pita, saying it can consider if he has violated Section 151 by applying as a list-MP candidate despite knowing he may not have been eligible to run for the House seat.

"The EC can't consider Mr Pita's status as an MP because he isn't an MP yet. If he is endorsed and the EC has questions about his qualifications, it can ask the Constitutional Court to rule,"

Lock up every last member of the EC, and go after the proxy senators, in whatever way necessary. Then go after the current leaders, after they have been dismissed. Find their overseas assets.

Apparently two days before the ITV meeting, a Bhumjaithai candidate ( previously with Future Forward) posted that a political leader should brace himself for news about media shares 

Now a video clip from the ITV meeting emerges where it is said that the company is no longer in operation. 

Yet in the complaint filed to the EC it is claimed the company is still in operation, this formed the base for the complaint.

Could the Bhumjaithai candidate be seeking revenge for having to change party or could he be just one part in a plot to ban Pita?

Not true - Democrat politician had 6 shares in a media company and the EC decided that he didn't have enough influence with only 6 and allowed him to remain as an MP. One rule for one & .....................  You know the rest. ????

That's  dreaming of future to come/or never will come. 

You did not mention in your post the future but present.

For this what you're dreaming of is a lot of laws to be implemented same as a new constitution. Long  and winding road. Many obstacles, many soldiers.
