THAI Airways International (THAI) clarified that its passenger jet’s right winglet got damaged after hitting an EVA plane at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at 11 a.m. local time (9 a.m. in Thailand) Saturday (June 10) but there were no injuries, Matichon newspaper said.

The THAI plane, Flight TG 683, was taxiing to fly back to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok while EVA’s jet, Flight BR 189, was en route to Taipei when the accident occurred.

There were no injuries with there being 264 passengers on the THAI flight and 207 passengers aboard the EVA passenger jet.

About 100 passengers on a Thai Airways International (THAI) aircraft, which was involved in a taxi-way incident at Tokyo’s Haneda airport Saturday, have been arriving in Thailand yesterday and today, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

The CAAT said in a statement that THAI arranged for two flights, by All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, to fly some back to Bangkok yesterday, with the remainder to follow today.

The THAI plane collided with an EVA Airways aircraft on a taxi-way, damaging a wing on the THAI, leaving it unable to fly, said the CAAT.

How daft can those pilots be to not to pay attention where they're taxiing.

Not sure about your experience flying with TG but I flew very recently with TG from Melbourne to BKk economy class and I couldn't fault the service, the compatible fare and the flight as a whole and I'm the complaining type of person when it is warranted to do so.

Exactly! Prior to this, Thai Airways had an International Safety Rating of 5/7. Clearly this should now be downgraded further after this latest incident.

Perhaps a microsleep.....

Could have been worse and happened in the air!

Agreed, compared to Qantas Thai is luxury.

There is not much clearance between two heavies if both are right on the centerline on some taxiways/intersections have wingspan restrictions buried in 20 pages of airport info.

Ground controller error could even be a factor.  Or one plane just stopped short of where the should be and the other guy though they had enough room?

Ok. Lets hear all the ridicule. And lets pretend that this doesn't happen a couple times a year somewhere in the world.

Don't planes have little warning beepers on proximity detectors like  women need for reversing?

I don't believe that they do, no. The TCAS system does not function on the ground.
