ACADEMICS FROM universities across the country have endorsed the Move Forward campaign policy, which aims to redistribute administrative powers at all levels. The proposed policy suggests a shift from the current system of appointing provincial governors by the Bangkok-based government to electing them directly by the people.

 

Charges have been filed against Artur Legay, a 48-year-old male from Kazakhstan, for "attempted murder, possession of firearms, and ammunition." Mr. Artur was arrested  On June 8th by police at Phuket Airport in connection with the shooting incident that took place the previous day. The victim, Dmitry Aleyni-kov, a 44-year-old Russian citizen, was shot four times in the chest while parking his car outside a cafe in the Laguna area of Phuket.


A Rescue Team in Chanthaburi spent approximately 5 hours bring down an injured man from a mountain in a Wildlife Sanctuary after he was attacked by 3 bears. The man, Mr. Uthai, aged 41, from Chanthaburi, was conscious and able to communicate during the rescue operation, despite severe injuries including the loss of his right eye and extensive damage to his mouth and nose. Fortunately, his friend managed to escape and alert the authorities. 

 

A canal project worth 80 billion baht is being planned to minimize flooding in the lower Chao Phraya river basin. The proposed canal would run 135 kilometers from Saraburi passing through Ayutthaya, Nakhon Nayok, Samut Prakan, and ending in Chachoengsao where it will run into the gulf of Thailand.. Its construction aims to alleviate flooding concerns in the region.


The new Satellite Airport Terminal 'SAT-1' at Suvarnabhumi airport is due to soft launch in September and fully open early next year. It will increase the airport's capacity to handle 60 million passengers per year. The North Expansion project, serving as a separate domestic terminal, will take five years to complete. The airports East wing project is set to begin early next year and with completion due in 2027.
