Accident Crash Claims Life of Two-Year-Old in Nakhon Phanom
Renewed warnings? Does anyone actually need a warning to keep small children off motorbikes without adequate protection? It's understandable that most here can't afford vehicles but you can either leave the children with someone or if they need to go, make sure they're fully clothed and wearing a helmet. A "heartfelt" warning is plain BS. This has been going on for decades and they see 3 -5 on a scooter daily, all without helmets and do nothing. That there is no care for children here like in the west is blatantly obvious, and this will continue until more responsible and caring officials are put in position, which could be never. -

Another Farang bully makes the news.
Stupid remark! Yeah, first some name calling, Richard style. After saying not hooked and easily forgettable as well as irrelevant. After spouting out same degrading BS. Keep up the good work Richard. Seems to me that you are totally hooked. -

Sam Altman and The Night of the Iguana: Since 1964, there has never been such a nightmare!
What are the risks when great power is concentrated in the hands of a person of ill repute? When great power is concentrated in the hands of a person of ill repute, the risks are severe and far-reaching, impacting all aspects of society. History provides numerous examples of the devastating consequences. Here's a breakdown of the key risks: 1. Abuse of Power and Tyranny: Suppression of dissent: Ill-reputed leaders often crush any opposition, leading to a chilling effect on free speech and expression. This can involve censorship, arrests, imprisonment, and even elimination of political opponents. Erosion of human rights: Fundamental rights and freedoms are frequently violated. This can include arbitrary detentions, torture, forced labor, and genocide, as seen under regimes like Nazi Germany (Adolf Hitler), the Soviet Union (Joseph Stalin), and Democratic Kampuchea (Pol Pot). Rule by decree and undermining of the law: The leader may bypass established legal frameworks and make decisions unilaterally, leading to a breakdown of the rule of law and an unpredictable, unjust environment. Cult of personality: Such leaders often foster a cult of personality, demanding absolute loyalty and portraying themselves as infallible, which further solidifies their control and discourages questioning. 2. Corruption and Mismanagement: Personal enrichment: Leaders of ill repute are highly likely to use their power for personal gain, siphoning off public funds, engaging in bribery, and controlling economic resources for their own benefit and that of their inner circle. Misallocation of resources: Decisions are made based on personal interest rather than public good, leading to resources being diverted from essential services (healthcare, education, infrastructure) to vanity projects or military build-up that benefit the leader. Economic stagnation and inequality: Corruption discourages investment, undermines stability, and distorts markets, leading to economic hardship for the general population and widening the gap between the rich and the poor. Weakening of institutions: Public institutions (judiciary, law enforcement, civil service) become compromised and subservient to the leader's will, losing their ability to act as checks and balances and to serve the public effectively. 3. Social Instability and Conflict: Loss of public trust: When leaders are seen as corrupt and unaccountable, public trust in government and institutions erodes, leading to widespread cynicism and disengagement. Social unrest and division: Inequality, injustice, and lack of opportunity can fuel widespread discontent, leading to protests, civil unrest, and even armed conflict. Increased conflict risk: Corruption and ineffective governance can contribute to the rise of criminal networks and insurgent groups, making a society more vulnerable to internal and external conflicts. Erosion of social cohesion: Divisions may be deliberately fostered by the leader to maintain power, pitting groups against each other and undermining the social fabric. 4. International Isolation and Instability: Sanctions and diplomatic condemnation: International bodies and other nations may impose sanctions or condemn the regime, leading to economic and diplomatic isolation. Regional instability: A rogue state led by an ill-reputed person can destabilize entire regions through aggressive foreign policy, support for terrorism, or mass displacement of its population. Diminished international standing: The nation's reputation on the global stage suffers, impacting its ability to engage in trade, secure alliances, and participate in international cooperation. In essence, concentrated power in the hands of an ill-reputed person creates a system where accountability is non-existent, individual rights are trampled, and the pursuit of personal gain supersedes the welfare of the populace, often with catastrophic consequences. The historical record vividly illustrates these dangers.
