Scammer Tells Police: Thais Most Gullible In Asia

METROPOLITAN Police published an audio clip where a former call centre scammer said Thai people are the most gullible in Asia while jeering that if you have money then just bribe the police, TV Channel 7 said Wednesday (June 14).

In the 1.34-minute audio clip, published on the Metropolitan Police Facebook page, the fraudster who used to work for a call centre gang based in Cambodia said Thais are the easiest to fool in Asia. The team will chase Thais first and after getting a large sum of money from Thai victims will move on to scam Chinese, Japanese, Indonesians and Filipinos and are now getting ready to target Malaysians.

The prevalent belief among the scammers is that they are not swindling their parents’ money and were lying to strangers with this being taught to them by Chinese people.

I suspect this is part of the reason masks just refuse to go away.

They've been told it's safe, but encouraged to continue, which is confusing.

And they were terrorised by stunts like shutting down an entire province when an infectious Egyptian airman visited a U Tapao mall on a military layover. And even then we already knew most healthy people survived Covid without a vaccine.

So yeah, gullible.

They must have a large team of ASEAN nationals to target those countries as most Thais can't even speak basic English let alone speak Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Filipino and Malaysian.

Most likely running in Sihanoukville, people are not allowed to leave these huge building and are forced to scam.

One TukTuk driver pointed to one building and said, Vietnamese all in that building.

Most of the world was sucked into the COVID scam.

The charge of being gullible is/was universal.

Indeed...

But I believe the special amulets go for triple that.

You'll find the traders and con men outside every major market in your province.

Education would have solved their gullibility problem..critical thinking has so many benefits!

My missus used to get a multitude of calls from some legitimate companies (insurance, car companies, retail companies etc) and also what were obviously scammer calls from dodgy lenders or some pyramid scheme.

I would listen to her repeatedly say she didn't want the product or service, and often the phone calls lasted 10 minutes or more, with her occasionally almost giving in to whatever their pitch was. I mean, she even listened to the pre-recorded type of calls, FGS!

After one particularly tedious call from an insurance company, I asked her why she didn't just end the call.  Her answer - that would be rude and impolite.  The next 4 or 5 times she got calls, I grabbed her phone and ended the call, after saying FO to the caller.

I think It may be possible that the Thai class and hierarchical system system that enforces "respect" is the reason so many Thais are sucked in.  They find it difficult to say no, or be so rude as to end the call. And then because they actually listen to the pitch, that's when they get brain fade and see the chance to make a fortune, and go all-in!

Missus now automatically ends any call, and she gets very few now.  I suspect her number is being deleted from their databases.

We should call this "ant-vax reductivism"

Critical thinking is discouraged here, only deference to authority. The Thai language bubble also limits the information available to normal Thai peeps.

When I tell the ladies I can't afford that much they don't seem gullible at all.

Lol. No doubt
