Five officials from local authorities in Nakhon Pathom, Saraburi, Chaiyaphum, Si Sa Ket     and Nakhon Si Thammarat have been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than 23 million baht. 


The arrests were part of a "Stop Cyber Corruption" operation, which has so far identified about 84 million baht missing from local government funds.


A government run bank cooperated with authorities which led to the arrests.

 

The Election Observer Network yesterday sent a letter urging the Election Commission to announce 95 percent of the election results. This is necessary to initiate  parliamentary proceedings and elect a prime minister.


K Ying-cheep from ‘iLaw’ pointed out  it has been a month since the general election and the Election Commission has never taken this long before.

 

Paetongtarn Shinawat, daughter of Thaksin Shinawatra and a Pheu Thai party candidate for the position of prime minister, says her father Thaksin still plans to return next month, despite calls from his family to hold off until after the new government is installed.


Thaksin risks jail upon arrival, as a court found him guilty of misconduct while in office.

 

Thailand's education minister says A 15-year-old girl, who was detained for 51 days on a charge of royal defamation, has not faced expulsion from  school, 


The student named yok had been questioned at the school then posted that she had been expelled, she claimed the school director offered to refund her school fees after she broke rules on school uniforms. The minister for education said that Yok was welcome to return to school.

Various versions of a pro-democracy protest anthem ‘Glory to Hong Kong were unavailable on Apple’s iTunes, Spotify,, Facebook and Instagram’s Reels after the government sought an injunction banning the song outright.


The song ‘Glory to Hong Kong’ was played recently by mistake at several international events, including a Rugby Sevens game and an ice hockey competition.
