Thai police seize 1,000 million baht assets in embezzlement case linked to ‘Boy’

Thai police have seized assets worth over 1,000 million baht (US$28,800,000) from a suspect known as “Boy” in connection to an alleged 140 million baht (US$4,036,000) embezzlement case.

Speaking yesterday, police deputy commander Surachet Hakpal detailed that nine out of ten men facing accusations had reported to authorities, including Chonburi’s provincial governor. The investigation continues, with financial examinations expected to conclude this week.

Surachet Hakpal stated that there was misconduct in the initial handling of the arrests, as the accused individuals were not taken to a police station in the local area; instead, they were taken straight to their superiors’ offices.

Furthermore, some arrest warrants were withdrawn after receiving payments, asserting that the information provided by an informant was incorrect. Surachet also mentioned they are preparing to further expand the investigation and apprehend more individuals involved in this matter.

The assets discovered, worth an initial estimate of 200-300 million baht (US$5,765,000-8,648,000), include residential properties, land, boats, and motor vehicles. The authorities, in coordination with the government’s financial secretary, are now focused on completing the asset seizure process worth not less than 1,000 million baht in total.

Don't officers get to keep a portion of what they seize in corruption cases? There should be some new multimillionaires in the officer ranks soon. The Royal Thai Police (Mafia) will continue unhindered, pays to be at the top.

Not sure but I think this is just the latest keystone cop (RTP) saga of the KMITL/SCB embezzlement case (1.5 billion baht) circa 2016?

Something valuable goes missing, RTP officers jump on the case, see all that dosh, shake down the criminals for a cut.

This one seems more convoluted than the Saudi Gem fiasco, and that's saying something.

Big Joke is earning his "unusual wealth" cleaning up all these corruption cases.

Arrest warrants have been issued for three individuals believed to be involved in the extortion of six suspects connected to an online gambling case. Deputy national police chief, Surachate Hakparn, confirmed the issuance of the warrants for Veera Nasab, his spouse, and Phisit Nakhisornpanee, on charges of bribery and theft.

Veera and Phisit are suspected to have fled to a neighbouring nation on June 13 after discovering they were being investigated through police connections. In Chon Buri‘s Bang Lamung district, Veera’s residence was searched, where law enforcement found cash, a flash drive, a mobile phone SIM card, a memory card, and a gold ring. The money was not confiscated, as officers believe it was earned from Veera’s speedboat rental company, Bangkok Post reported.

The situation gained attention on Thursday when six individuals filed a complaint with Khu Khot police in Pathum Thani, accusing Chon Buri police chief Kamphon Leelaprapaporn and his team of demanding 140 million baht to avoid prosecution for operating an online gambling site called Foxbet168.

I know it's hard to keep up with ALL the police corruption cases, but I do not believe this extortion case is related to the case in the OP.

Sounds like they should be on remand and not holed up on the inactive post department

If only they could count on Big Joke to handle this case properly, and make sure both the police and the judiciary are not corrupted by this massive amount of money. Since he is the top dog, it is very unlikely he is honest, and there will probably never be any convictions.

What ever happened to Ferrari Joe? Was he convicted and jailed? And the others?

Or gone to a decent school -  1 billion = 1,000,000 million.

I was just thinking this morning having coffee that the Darkside sure can use a hospital, everyday like every hours at times Ambulances are flying by heading out to the Lake and back. It must take a 1/2 hour to get to the lake.

Quite the haul, I wonder what percentage the RTP get to keep?

No wonder the "fee" for allowing the initial case against the guilty to be dropped was so large.

It's political.

These governors hair get a cut of everything corruption from the top down underbelly of Taylan, this is just one case involving five or $8 million. Can you imagine how many of these people collect this type of money on a regular basis? It’s mine boggling, and nothing will ever change because.  TIT

I've ordered my brown uniform and a few Mickey Mouse medles. Can someone update me of the share out date.

If your an American then, yes, 1,000 million is classed as a billion. If your English then, no, 1,000 million is just that, 1,000 million. The English bullion is 1 million million. Thais follow the American thinking.

similar to German....a German billion is an American trillion....that often causes wrong news when the translator doesn't know that

Maybe, but:

Surachet Hakpal stated that there was misconduct in the initial handling of the arrests, as the accused individuals were not taken to a police station in the local area; instead, they were taken straight to their superiors’ offices."

It also makes you wonder why they were taken straight to their Superior's offices, doesn't it?

Also maybe,

To get their stories straight?

Divert any investigation from those superior officers?

Arrange to get other monies hidden away?

The list is probably endless......

Has anyone noticed the post picture?

It is the standard plastic plod, forever on duty.

The arms of this one are detached from the body and hung elsewhere around it.

Why is that posted as a lead-in to the story?

Is he the only h'armless one in the whole RTP?
